Darkroom Processing of Industrial X-ray Films

August 2015, 15 p.

Kategorie: DGZfP-Regelwerke, engl.

The way exposed X-ray films are processed (and stored) has an important impact on the significance and sustainability of radiographs. Only first-rate darkroom work will ensure radiograph quality to be at a level that justifies the effort made to obtain exposures in comformity with relevant standards. Since experience in recent years has shown that numerous errors still occur in processing films despite the use of automatic developing machines, the Expert Committee on Radiographic Testing (FA D) of the DGZfP (German Society of Nondestructive Testing) has drawn up a guideline for darkroom work describing the principal and most frequent errors and ways of preventing them when processing films. This guideline is not intended as a substitute for a textbook or detailed instruction, but is designed to lay sown general rules as a basis for consultation between manufacturers and users on essential questions.
